How do recurring tasks work, and how do you set them up?

A recurring task is a task that repeats on a schedule, such as every Monday or on the first of each month. Instead of creating the same task by hand each time, you set the schedule once and the app creates the next one for you. In Flaxxa Tasks the next task appears when you complete the current one.

What is a recurring task?

A recurring task is routine work written down once: the weekly report, the monthly invoice run, the Friday backup check. It carries a repeat rule, and the app uses that rule to produce the next occurrence with a new due date.

Recurring tasks are one of the main reasons teams move from a shared spreadsheet to a task app, because routine work is the work most easily forgotten.

How do apps repeat a task?

There are two common approaches. Some apps create every future occurrence on a fixed calendar, whether or not the last one was finished. Others create the next occurrence only when the current one is completed, so unfinished routine work doesn't pile up into a stack of overdue copies.

Flaxxa Tasks uses the second approach: completing a recurring task creates exactly one next task, due on the next date in the schedule.

How do you set up a recurring task?

  • Open the task and choose a repeat schedule in its Repeat section.
  • Or add it in one line, for example "Send the weekly report every:fri due:friday".
  • Write the steps in the task's description; each new occurrence keeps its description, tags, priority and assignees.
  • Complete it as usual; the next one appears with its new due date.
